Many of its most distinctive features survive in the modern Professional series, including its orange dial and cushion-shaped case. It would make history as the first diving watch with a helium escape valve. French oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau also helped design this timepiece. One great example is the model 1147.Дoxa partnered with Rolex to release their first professional diving watch, the SUB 300T, in 1967. These timepieces are popular among watch collectors today. Doxa also produced functional dress watches well into the 1960s. The company spent its early years predominately focused on pocket watches. The Greek word 'doxa' has many translations, among them 'glory' and 'praise.' In 1889, Georges Ducommun founded the company now known as Montres Doxa S.A.
